Hi

Just had a wood burner fitted in my lounge and even though the central heating is on I would have expected the rad TRV to turn the rad off seeing as the room is hotter than hell itself thanks to the log burner.

But it didn't... so the twin 2.8m wide radiator was full pelt along with the wood burner.. toasty!

Apart from manually turning off the rad valves each evening (annoying) is there anything else I could try ?

Many thanks
Mike

Try fitting a new trv or swapping the head for another one in the property.

turn the setting on the TRV down ?????
Yeah that's the obvious answer and i tried that but the room is too cool when the burner is not on. Odd one. Perhaps the TRV too slow. it's an old honey well .

Is it a wax element? They can take about an hour to respond!

Even the liquid elements can be 30 minutes.

You could try lubricating the pin with silicone grease in case it is a little stiff.

Not sure if it's a wax element but is likely to be mid 90's

They are good ones apparently. Just had a plumber replace rads upstairs as part of a loft conversation and he insisted on using the old lockshields and TRV's (same type). (rolleyes)

Need an electric one for quicker response... any recommendations please?
