Wood fibre underlay boards as carpet underlay.

Hi all, is it ok to use wood fibre underlay boards as used with laminate flooring As a carpet underlay ? Think our carpet has a hessian back.

I doubt it.
Carpet Underlay always has a soft feel to it and the wood stuff is meant to take bumps out, presenting a hard surface. IMHO it would feel unpleasant under foot
