Hi
As you can see below the paint job has not turned out as expected.
The wooden door was originally stained/varnished. When sanded it was still botchy (i assumed that this was due to uneven staining?).
Anyway it was painted with Johnstones Flexible primer and then Flexible Gloss (both same colour - sweet pepper). 2 Coats primer and 1 coat gloss.
Any ideas of why its turned out like this and also what i can do to correct it? My present plan is to just paint it black but dont want to do anything until i understand the underlying issue.
thanks in advance

Are the primer and topcoat oil-based or water-based?

When painting over varnished hardwood doors, one option is a thorough sand down, aluminium wood primer (oil-based), undercoat (oil-based), topcoat.

Do you need all those hinges?!

The underlying issue may be that you've only applied one coat of gloss, which is seldom sufficient.

What time of day was it painted?, looks like damp/dew has caught the gloss paint before it has cured. or the paint was not thoroughly stirred before use.

In any case, another couple of coats should fix it. I like the flower.

Cheers
