I have a 20 yr old Danesmoor 15/19 which starts OK from cold, but on the 1st or 2nd time after that the motor does not start up and a lockout occurs after 5 seconds or so. At switch-on there is a click and a buzz before the lockout.
Looking at similar problems on the forum, likely candidates for failure are solenoid, starter capacitor or bearing tight spot.
Motor runs smoothly and quietly when it is running so possibly not a bearing problem.
Click on startup indicates solenoid is kicking in so possibly not that.
Leaving the capacitor as main suspect and the cheapest to replace so I'll try that first.
Does that sound sensible reasoning to the experts here?
Interestingly, no-one's previously mentioned brushes. Is the motor brushed? After 20 years I'd expect pretty heavy wear if it is.
