My 10 (odd) year old Worcester 280 Combi boiler has stopped working. The Power light is on. When the thermostat kicks in for the central heating, I can hear what I guess is the pump turning, but the boiler does not ignite at all. Water pressure is 1.5 bar. I've located the reset button, but it doesn't seem to be raised to push down? Pushed it anyway, but to no avail. Same result when a hot tap is opened, all the right kind of pumping noises, but no whoosh of ignition, and clearly no hot water. Does this thing have a pilot light? Looking through the inspection window its just very dark in there..

Any ideas?

Check fan venturi pressure switch in any order you like, most likely one of those.

Thanks..

How do I check these out? I have no real info on the boiler, it was installed when the house was built, and the original owner didn't pass any details along. There's a circuit diagram on the inside of the front cover, but its logical rather than physical. How do I get to the fan? (and then how do I test it?)

Thanks

Tone.

It does indeed look as if the fan is dead.. (Smells like an old transformer, and was very hot to the touch, even though power has been removed from the boiler for some time.)

So - anyone know where's the best place to get a new one, and how hard is it to fit?

Thanks Paul for your help so far

Paul - thanks for this. I've taken the fan motor apart and rebuilt, and its all now working. For how long remains to be seen. I followed the link you posted.... Does the fan assembly include the ducting? Is this something I should be able to replace, or should I engage a specialist..?

Thanks
