Hi,
There is some gas seeping from the main burner of Worcester heatslave 9.24, when every thing is off including the main electricity, I still could see the first and second row of the main burner array lighting on and off in flashing manner taking the flame from the polite of course. When the pilot is off I could small Gas in a period 20 minutes after. This led me to conclude that the Gas valve is faulty, is that the case? And how much do you think it costs to change it. It is an hour job for a CORGI registered Gas engineer plus parts.

I dont understand why you are stating that its "an hour job" .

Surely it would normally take one visit to diagnose the fault and then a trip to the spare parts supplier and then a return visit to fit it which would then take an hour or more to include testing and adjusting the new valve.

Tony,
I accept your argument that was just a rough estimate. However, all I need to know at this stage is whether the Gads valve is faulty or something else simpler.

Never mind how long it will take to do the job your boiler is in a dangerous condition.

STOP using it NOW turn off the gas and get a corgi engineer to look at it.

It does sound as if the gas valve has failed.

That does need a CORGI to check it and if so to replace it.

We would only charge our single fixed diagnostic fee even though it would involve involve two visits to site. Not a very profitable job for us though.
