hi there guys.....

i'm new to this site....so hi there...

right my problem is as follows 4 months ago i replaced for the second time the syncron motor in the diverter valve on my y plan system... from what i understand the motor flips the micro switch for hot water and for heating on the diverter valve.
ok..now again the problem i had has come back to haunt me..
when i turn the hot water on the rads get hot along with a ticking micro switch....
then when the heating is on all fine and no hot water as should be...

what i don't understand is the valve is fine when the power head
is removed i can turn it with my fingers so in my eyes its not the
valve...

a gas fitter mate told me the motor had gone so i sourced one and
replaced it...

when the hot water is fired you can hear the power head wind up but
then it just keeps ticking which leads me to think i'm burning the motors
out....
oh and the rads getting hot with the hot water on eeeehhhh...
i know the valve is fine so is it getting stuck....don't think it is
or is the powerhead shafted....

hope some one can help aaaaaaarrrrrrrgggggg....

cheers in advance..... :p

when the hot water is fired you can hear the power head wind up
it should not be doing this with only hot water selected so either
a wiring problem (has the system ever worked correctly)
b actuator head knackered
c programmer knackerd

time to get the multimeter out

matt

hey matt

no it did work fine up till last year then allsorts started happening
kept thinking i was burning the motors out.so nice to know i'm not going
mental...

have not messed with the wiring so not sure
all i did do was install a syncron motor twice and i'm right in
thinking that can be fitted either way as its double pole
is'nt it well it had two red wires so in it went

Honeywell ST699 Programmer is in stalled with a honeywell
traditional stat and who ever put this lot in needs shooting
as the stat is right above a rad yeah even i know that is not right...

actuator you mean the bit where the sycron motor fits in is that right...

cheers jeff

Can you clarify the valve details? I think the 'Y' plan has a 3port mid position valve, not a diverter.
The actuator is what you call the powerhead

all i can say is i was told it is a y plan separate circuit for hot water
and central heating...its got a 1 in 2 out with a rubber ball valve under the
actuator..

The actuator is what you call the powerhead[/quote] cheers...

What mandate is saying.

Have you got a diverter valve or mid position valve.

Does the silver cover have a 'bump' on it. If yes then yes. If no, then its a draindown.

If you can fit a new powerhead, it comes with a motor.

Paul.

i've just looked at a couple and they look exactly the same aaaaarrrrrgggg don't know with out stripping the cupboard out

whats the difference if you don't mind me asking???

What colour and how many wires does it have.

A diverter valve doesn't have a mid position.

Both types of valve have 1 in 2 out, so if you are to replace the actuator head you need to obtain the correct head. What is the make and model No?

on closer inspection yes it has a bump on it...

heres a photo to help
