Yale alarms are crap because?

Ta LooPrEvil

we, the pro installer jsut dont loke cheap and ansty wireless systems, especially when there are better systems out there!!

but if it down to cost, well there are still better kit out there!!!

another yale system removed this week in favour of a GD48 with 7 wireless PIR`s One Dualtecc (wireless) and three door contacts

the customer is so pleases with the system!! as it works!!

Yaleguy
you say you have spoken to the Alarm company and they are not SSAIB or NSI?
but you have a communicated system?
Odd really?

I have noted this before, IIRC its on keyholders only. Which still does not explain a un-registered company fitting redcares.

Bit its on a dialler :D

SD1 i should say!!!!
or even a SD1+!!!!

REDcare? doubt it, an ARC allowing a non registered company fitting comms based systems???

URN ???

graded?

Ah well its fun init!!!

Oasis

Well it could be graded as you know.

Grade 1 Non Conforming :D
Same as Yale is Grade 1.

Remember we have to grade everything, if its not G2 or above it gets a 1.
Bit like using a rusty nail to hold you shed door closed. Is the definition of Grade 1 or close enough.

Noone has said a grade 1 system doesn't work only that it does not comply.

If you want to take a legal case against yale under the trade descriptions act then please do

Sale of goods act should be the bit you need

unfit for purpose intended?

Let me know how you get on.

As I have said, act the professional you claim to be.

As for fit for purpose, it is.
Just not the purposes we would require.
That is all we say.

That's OK, he too won't be using it when he gets accredited.

wouldnt have a 2-20 sufficed?! Bit overkill for 11 zones?!

Anyway

They are crap becuse,

http://www.fittedhomealarmsystems.co.uk/index.aspx

for another £100 or so you can have a proper graded graded system fitted that your insurance will be happy with. It will be fitted by a recognised professional installer with 24 hr back up. If people are paying £400 for basically DIY crap from B&Q you're being mugged off big time....

Buy cheap (even though its being fitted for ££££!) buy twice iirc?

9651

sorry mate but i hate G2 panels!!

always prefer teh fully loaded G3 or GD range, also outputs for the Dualcom are alot easier on a G3 or GD than that stupid lead for the G2 panel!!

and i then dont have to keep loads of spares!!!

Oasis

I know what you mean. We fit em all, but if not on comms we'd have fitted a G2 in the above instance really ;)

we are going to have a look at the new Flex panels
they look pretty much like the old Accord but with proper galaxy installed

thet come as;
FX020 12 TO 20
FX050 12 TO 52
FX100 12 TO 100
including 20 / 52 / 100 wireless

and with all the extras you expect form a G3 but as a G2 panel, looks ok, as i am going up a training course on the 30th June i am going to have a play with one of them, (also taking up one of my trainees to trrain him up as well)

but i know were your going on non comms systems, but the sites we usually do need and or want comms, if they dont when we fit the system, we always put a G3 or GD in just in case.

Oasis

PS i thought you would be fitting scannys with your moniker of 9651!!!!

Only fit 96 audible only jobs, anything bigger than 8 zone, its a G2-12 upwards ;)

It would be nice to fit GD stuff on every job, but as things are its not possible in the current climate, not sure how you do it!

these Flex things must be what the rep was on about a few months ago. Just googled them, no info yet. When are they released?

Any links?

the link should be on the Honeywell security site.

we are a busy little firm to be honest, we will only fit the best to the site.

take a job we did yesterday;
call from a new client,
his alarm was playing up, so instead of inputting his code in (9448+) he took a HATCHET to the panel, internal SAB and outside SAB!!

we get there the other day, tell him, `sorry its FUCT, (failed under continuos test)
give him a verbal cost to replace the unit, (backed up via email and post full proposal to him)
get the go ahead to fit new system

so he now has a G3 48
6 x DT
3 x surface DC`s
2 x SAB
1 x internal spkr
all done and dusted by 1700hrs yesterday

and i have just go an email from him, saying he wants his house alarm sorted out (old galaxy 16+) and his other shop as well also a 16+
as he is so pleased with he installation work we carried out.

and he promises NOT to take a hatchet to the new system!!!

so yep we do do some real interesting work!!!

Oasis

Yep we all do interesting work take the ones I did the other weekend.

First house was a family who rang me up because I had fitted their previous Yale alarm.

They sheepishly asked if they could have brought it with them so I said sadly yes.

Never mind they said we liked it so much we would like another on the new home.

So it was 1 x sab
1 x dummy sab
6 x pir
3 x dc
1 x control panel
2 x external keypads

Done and dusted in two hours and off to
another chap who wanted someting on quick because he was going on holiday.

So a quick 1 hr install of
1 sab
1 keypad
3 x dc
2 x pir

and happy smiley was he before I set of to

previous customer who wanted a battery change.

half an hour later all batteries changed and a full system test and happy chappy no 3

Before onto a young couple who needed a new alarm as their old one was kyboshed by decorators and builders.

1 x sab
1 x keypad
2 x pir
2 x dc

ta very much very happy.

Started first job at 9am finished last at 5pm

Thats
3 x sab
1 x dummy box
8 x dc
10 x pir
1 x control panel
4 x keypads
and a battery change.

bish bosh.
