Zanussi Wahing Machine ZWF16070S not working

We have a Zanussi Washing Machine Model No. ZWF16070S that is approximately 11 years old and had functioned perfectly until today.

The machine will start a cycle by filling and then stops.
It will drain the water when set to manual.
It wont spin when set to manual.

I believe I have extracted the error code with 6 red flashed followed by 8 green flashes which I believe to be E68

So what does this error code mean and how do I fix the washing machine?

E68 code suggests your heating element is shorting to earth. You need to resistance check between each terminal & element body. Probably the element is faulty, but could be a wire shorting also.

thanks for that. confirmed my suspiscions. Have ordered a new heater element and will report back if that fixes the problem.
