Zion and the Art of Armageddon

Sounds like we may be hearing about the form the attack on Rafar will take. Section by section with advances. News of more and more civilians moving but no one has shown any evac maps which would show if this is happening.

Israel has ordered the Kuwait hospital to be evacuated.

One reason Egypt is upset is Israel breaking the Camp David deal. Heavy military items around the Rafar crossing. Tanks etc when it should only be light troops.

Iran reckons the only solution is equal rights for all in Israel. Currently it sounds like it may be little different to how it is now other than hopefully no effective HAMAS. The thoughts will still be there so embargoes are likely to be needed.

It seems US will resume UNRWA contributions next year.

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees announced it was closing its East Jerusalem headquarters on Thursday after a fresh attack by what Philippe Lazzarini, the head of the agency, described as “Israeli extremists”.

In March, the international court of justice ordered Israel to allow unimpeded access of food aid into Gaza, where sections of the population are facing imminent starvation. Israel’s siege of Gaza has created what aid officials are referring to as “man-made starvation”, with the territory facing the threat of mass deaths from famine with children already dying from hunger.

Last week, Israeli demonstrators blocked a road near the desert town of Mitzpe Ramon to protest against the delivery of aid trucks into the strip. The protesters – who say the aid is helping Hamas and want to block its passage until all Israeli hostages are freed – formed a sit-in protest as they scattered rocks across the road to prevent vehicles from passing, creating standstill traffic. “We are also raising our concerns at the highest level of the Israeli government and it’s something that we make no bones about – this is completely and utterly unacceptable behaviour.”

Referring to a US report issued on Friday on Israeli compliance with international humanitarian law, Sullivan said that the Israeli state had hindered aid deliveries in the recent past but had improved the flow sufficiently, so as not to be subject to restrictions on military aid that might have been required under US law.

The White House has condemned an attack on an aid convoy heading to Gaza by Israeli settlers who threw packages of food into the road and set fire to the vehicles. Video of the incident on Monday at Tarqumiya checkpoint, west of Hebron in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, showed settlers blocking the trucks and throwing boxes of much-needed supplies on the ground. Photographs from the scene showed piles of damaged aid packages and drifts of rice and flour across the road. “It is a total outrage that there are people who are attacking and looting these convoys coming from Jordan, going to Gaza to deliver humanitarian assistance,” US national security adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters.

Collective punishment is prohibited by treaty in both international and non-international armed conflicts, more specifically Common Article 33 of the Fourth Geneva Convention and Article 4 of the Additional Protocol II.

More or less a standard response. Aid shipments go up a bit so all ok. The other one in different areas is Israel is investigating. A UN vehicle was hit + death very recently and an aid truck driver shot about a week ago. No doubt being investigated. Some aid now seems to be getting in via the north corridor but no numbers given. Seems it's still none through the 2 southern ones will miles of trucks waiting. Some not prepared to enter a war zone mentioned but not sure by who.

There was a US analyst on who is based in London. He reckons he has seen powerpoint presentations on how to handle Rafar suggesting a section by section approach has advantages. We know how to go about it has been discussed with the US. Evac's from Rafar. 2 numbers mentioned 360,000 and more recently 450,000 but so far not many reports of that number. A "plan" and I'd be inclined to wonder whose.???? Might get clearer later on even that it is the plan.

There was an odd report on negotiations. Mentioned the man from the CIA going back to the US. It indicated that all have left the table even the facilitators. Qatar made a statement very recently that suggests the same. The sides are too far apart to reach an agreement. Problem - end of war on one side it will continue on the other.

Eight aid convoys have been targeted in this war and about 150 journalists have been killed. If this were any other country than Israel the tabloids would be screaming day and night. It took America less than a month to accuse Russia of war crimes after the invasion of Ukraine. Still, they remain silent about Israeli conduct in Gaza.

What paper are you reading, The Beano?
Israeli forces have carried out at least eight strikes on humanitarian convoys and their facilities in Gaza since October, even after aid organisations provided their coordinates to the Israeli authorities, according to a report by Human Rights Watch.

Oh, they've said words but refused to condemn the disregard for International law, is what i mean old stick.

150 journalists have been killed.
Getting nearer 200 aid and UN workers as well. Not sure if that includes medical area people and rubble diggers etc. Some of the rubble lot do or did have diggers. Others do it by hand.

The UN vehicle hit was on it's way to the European hospital. 1 dead 1 injured. Israel have said something along the lines of in a war zone and no route given. They always do declare the route for very obvious reasons. These vehicles are not that easy to hit. Bullet for instance just leave a mark. One was shot at going into the northern corridor holding area. No problem for the passengers.

The reason for that is a huge number of people in the world now know far more about what is going on there. Lots don't like war full stop.
Good point.
The political classes in the so called West Live in a bubble .
The rest of the world is changing rapidly, while those in the bubble think everything revolves around them .
Their so called rules based global order is increasingly being challenged.
The conflict in Gaza is a manifestation of this American/European sense of entitlement to other people's land an property.

Maybe a change of UN vehicle is needed. The peacekeeper vehicles are a bit different. In theory they can fight. Add some decent antitank and maybe a few other bits and pieces and more caution would be needed before some one takes one on. Seems it's only needed in Israel and maybe when Yugoslavia was sorted out. That one showed they have a difficult life if sides keep fighting. Not really set up to fight back,

Today is the day when Palestinians "celebrate" 1948 when 750,000 were forced from their homes. The view these days is influenced by what has happened since. Simply put more and more occupation and them not mattering at all.

It seems Biden has made it clear that only one shipment is being held back. The heavy bombs otherwise business as usual with the increased budget for Gaza. The US has sent various weights of bombs via that also via what Biden can just authorise,

There has been more videos of Israeli civilians destroying aid shipments - burning the stuff. IDF??? no signs or police.

According to someone in a chatroom.
During a war there will always be black market type activity. It's even been going on in Ukraine. ~$60b aid. $40b of that for weapons. The rest for aid in various areas. The Senate wants monthly corruption reports - this time.
