Astra MK3 power steering

My 04 Astra has a slight oil leak showing at the track
rod connection on the driver side steering assembly,
the oil is visable on the gaiter but I assume the seal
is leaking! can I cure it without removing the subframe

If its power steering oil no, replacement steering unit will be the easiest solution. Local breaker
If the reservoir level isn't dropping it may just be grease/oil from a a faulty boot?

Even if you could fish the seal out the bushing will probably have a bit of wear.

Thanks for reply Mursal, yes the resevoir is loosing oil
but only over a long period and there is no sign of any
other leakage near to gaiter, replacing the complete
unit looks a bit involved going by the Haynes guidlines.
will probably run it and see how it goes but keep an eye
on the oil level.

A heavier power steering oil may help, downside the steering might be a bit heavy in the cold weather
