Clio elec fault

15a fuse feeding cigarette lighter and radio in my daughter's Renault Clio (2007) has blown.

Resistance from fuse (load side) to chassis showing 8.4 ohms.

Tried a 20a fuse (it's all I could find) and it popped instantly (no cigarette lighter in).

Cleaned out lighter socket, but still shows same resistance.

Any clues ?????

I've had a few instances where an accessory has been pushed too hard in to the fag lighter socket, causing the damage you describe......it's probably a good idea to remove it from the dash for bench testing before fitting a replacement.
