Dear all,
I have been searching allover to find replacement posts for our porch (see photo) which is beginning to rot. I have had no luck with the type of posts that we have (2m length).

Hoping someone would be able to guide me with this

many thanks in advance

Thank you. I will have a go at it. When I searched for porch posts to buy they were coming up to £700 for 5 posts, that too 1.8 m in length.

Hope a woodturner will be able to do this for me. Will update details here

Cheers

No. it was surprising we that couldn't find it anywhere. I thought this would be something easy to source since it looked common place with all the houses in the cul-de-sac having exactly the same porch.

To be honest they look like pairs of newel posts put together one on top of the other to get the length. You can get them at big DIY stores or builders merchants.

Apparently not according to a local builder who has agreed to help me with this. He also couldn't find these posts anywhere. I enquired with B&Q but they wouldn't join posts.

I have attached a better picture if this might help. The builder quoted me $1000 and just the 5 posts were coming up to £700 !

The appearance is a bit deceptive. Atleast the ones on the right, they feel like sponge. If you poke them with somethig sharp it just goes through

Defo get a wood turner to do them for you and make sure they are pressure treated wood so it won't rot like that again

We thought about that too. But considering this is a semidetached, I dont know what options I have here. Bricking it up might end up looking ugly. Would be very grateful for any pointers re design options
