Hi All,

I am doing a PIR at the moment and there is a contactor (2zspn100/4ou) supplying the heater. One of the terminals is connected straight out of the main fuse and doesnt go through the meter, It was fitted by a contractor who fitted the new smart meter. I just wondered if this is how it should be fitted, This is obvioulsy live and so are 2 (which are metered) of the other terminals, also would any of this result in any feed from the metered supply being fed back into to supply through the meter ?

TIA BW

Starting on the left -

1, If the cable is removed from the terminal the cable is dead, and the terminal is still live - the cable goes to the meter.
2, live straight from main fuse
3 live from meter
4 only live when contactor kicks in

Please note the tar running down the mains, this is to be sorted by supplier, it has series 6 fuses(1ooamp) in series 5 head

whers my picture gone ?? it is in my profile but cant get it onto post

Thanks

Ive had a look at the datasheet altough it doesnt seem to match what is there, ( appently it all works)

I dont know which terminal it goes to as it disapears inside the meter casing

To be honest I cant seem to activate the contactor and it wont stay in, there is no thermostat or timeclock conected

This is a DNO owned and operated contactor and has nothing to do with you! You shouldn't be playing with it or testing it as part of your remit.

touch the 2 little screws on the smart meter that should fire it up a bigger picture of the whole installation would be better , ive never seen one wired with 4 wires , we only use 3

There are two options.

[1] the meter provides a volt free contact to operate the contactor's coil with the supply coming from the live in the contactor via the 3 amp fuse, Short the little terminals in the meter and the contactor will operate.

[2] the meter provides switched live and neutral direct to the contactor's coil. Short the little terminals in the meter and you will be shorting switched live to neutral, not a problem until the meter turns on the switched live.

Third and best. Don't meddle with it
