Hey, what is the best way of connecting to the 1/2 inch female thread on a flexi tap connector? I know a service valve will do it, but I could do to put two service valves before the mixer valve so don't realy what/need two more before the tap.

That's curious, it looks like the second one has a left hand thread. I think they must have flipped the image!

Are they called number 3's? Do they look ok with the over valves being chrome do they not do them in chrome?

A lot of merchants use manufacturer-specific codes as a generic system:

Yorkshire:
  • 3 - male iron
    2 - female iron
    12 - elbow
Conex:
  • 302 - male iron
    303 - female
    401 - elbow
etc.

The OP is correct in saying a copper to male iron adaptor is a number 3.

OP, what exactly are you trying to do?
The threaded nut normally goes on the theaded tail of a tap.
If you want compression both ends these are available from all good plumbers merchants.
