My central heating is working but when you turn on the hot tap there's about 10 seconds of hot water before it goes cold. Boiler light comes on though and there's no error messages. It happened yesterday after we spent a day steaming off wallpaper in the hall, we covered the thermostat but its very possible water got in. Might be unrelated but seems a strange coincidence. Any thoughts? Help would be much appreciated!

The room thermostat wouldn't affect the hot water.

Does the boiler indicate there is a demand for hot water?

If so, if you run the hot tap for a few minutes, can you feel hot water coming through the heating flow pipe? This is the pipe on the far left under the boiler.

Hi, cheers for the reply. The light is no longer coming on to indicate demand. Running the tap didn't heat up the far left pipe, but switching the heating on did.

The test with the pipe was to see if the diverter valve was allowing the heated water from main heat exchanger to go round the heating instead the plate heat exchanger which heats your hot water.
Checking the light was to see if the boiler sensed the flow of water to switch into hot water mode.
Both passed so further investigation would be required and you will need a registered gas safe engineer to have a proper look.

Sorry I read your last post wrong.
If no light is coming on to indicate a demand, without having a look it would suggest that the boiler is not switching into hot water mode.
This could be due to a flow switch or diaphragm that needs replacing.
Nothing to do with the steamer but will require an engineer.

Easy fix youself if the flow sensor has gone, if you have CH on and run the water the display should chamge from temp to pressure if not flow sensor is the likey culprit
