Dear all,

I’d like to bolt a 2 meter length of 4”x2”timber against the external wall of my house. However, I’m unsure as to which type of bolts to use i.e. shield anchor projecting bolts, through bolt or shield anchor loose bolt?!?! Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Depends on what you want to use it for. I'd probably opt for large plugs and galv coach screws.

place timber on wall.
mark and drill holes through timber at 1m on timber
then mark wall
on marked wall drill holes
then clean holes out
spray a little water
put resin bond into hole
put threaded bar in (cut to app length)
leave to set
then put the timber on
but washers then bolts and tighten

next... hang really heavy things on timber. That what we do when doing roofs / lean to roofs...

for decking or other exposed platforms [without slope to shed water] 12mm spacing off the wall to allow the water to drain and stop the timber holding damp against the wall
