Screw Sizes Again- help please

6 x 100 what does this size mean? Screw size 6 guage by 100 mm length?


6*100 Does this also mean screw size 6 guage and 100mm length?


4.0x65mm This means screw size diameter 4mm by 65mm length

6 x 100 means the screw shank diameter is 6mm, and the absolute length of the screw is 100mm.
If you look on the box, it often tells you the size of the driving head - Z2 means for example a Pozidriv size 2 bit is required.

As said the 6.0 is the diameter in mm which is about a 12 gauge screw

Thanks for the replies, so the 6 x 100 menas 6mm by 100mm but what about the 6*100- does that mean 6 guage by 100mm or are you saying this also means 6mm by 100mm? Thanks

Yes they are both 6mm dia by 100mm long. The * is often used in place of x as its whats on a numeric keypad in the same way as / is used rather than teh divide sign.
