Cleaning plaster/gunk on new upvc windows

Hi all,

just after a little advice and would be grateful for any help....... have had the house completely re-plastered inside and at the same time fitted new windows, this has casued to new windows to get very messy around the edges. Has anyone got any handy tips to clean them before I start, hope i've posted in the right section!

elbow grease water and a scouring backed sponge scrape off and big blobs off with a scraper

Thanks guys I was a bit worried about damaging the windows, I wont use any product unless its made specifically for cleaning windows then. They are a brown wood type effect so have lots of little grooves which might make it a bit harder but will prepare for war armed with just some water and scouring backed sponge!
