high power demand. wouldnt worry too much

Mmmm...

The switching on of a 3kW (absolute max) load should not make lights flicker.

Festa - has this happened before? Has anything changed recently? Does it happen wherever you plug in the kettle? Do other appliances cause the same effect?

Our hoover does this in our house?

Should I be worried?

I know I will call the sparky back that fitted the new DB.

Damn, that was me.....!!!!!!!!!!!

hoovers are a totally different type of load. kettles etc are resistive

Well our lights still flicker when the hoover is switched on.

most high loads do. lights in my house dim (very slightly) when the shower is switched on

So in answer to festa`s original question what`s the reply?
Loose neutral connection at the DB?

Cheers for the reply, today i lifted a few boards to check the junction boxes of the light circuit for loose connections in any and found a loose N wire to one of my spot lights in the kitchen......tightened it up and the flicker has now stopped.......strange but true hmmmmm :D Big thanks !!!
