just moved into new house
glow worm combi no service/installation history looks as old as the house (10 yrs)
fiancee insisted i redecorate (as in singular... notice not "we" redecorate!!!!)
took off 3 rads to paint behind... so drained down system completely
water was like octopuss ink!
put in some sentinel sludge remover, refilled to .7 bar, (as instructions recommended) bled air/topped up back to .7 bar and fired up...
ran fine fer a week or so but pressure guage climbed up to 1.6 bar from resting at .7... is this normal???
now dwh only available if ch is running. At all other times when ch is not on (crappy segment timer) no hot water. pilot is on looking thru inspection window but clicking it a few times seems to kick start it, or wake the blighter up at the very least!

Also makes annoying clicking noises and rumbles vibrates a lot (generally veeeeery noisy!

Methinks has been abused (lack of service history) and will need replacement in near future but how can I get the dhw to be more reliable???

any suggestions greatly appreciated..
:D

How can a house be "new" if its 10 years old?

It sounds as if the boiler is 10 years old too or do you call that new as well? To a boiler engineer thats almost at the end of its useful life span.

It sounds as if the DHW flow switch is not working.

That model is usually very noisy so thats typical.

If its professionally repaired and the system water is cleaned to absolute clarity then you may get a few more years out of it.

If you were CORGI registered you could lubricate the fan bearings with 15-50 motor oil to extend its life a little.
