White powder on burner

C

Coniferman

Thorn warm air boiler.

Anyone know what the white powder stuff is on the burner and is it normal/safe.

Have hoovered it off but it comes back.

Thanks.

sounds like aluminium reverting back to bauxite. ...as the learned ones would say..

.... ie its just corroding . squirt some wd40 on it? paint it?

is something leaking water on to it?

I was thinking it just needs a good clean - yes/no?

I should add that the flame (pilot and burner) is a little yellow at the moment.

I am leaving it switched off until serviced (i.e. until I can get someone out) although have had it on once or twice when cold. (CO alarm never gone off)

you can clean it, but an oxide film will build up again (white stuff)

anyway.....its gas.....i presume. thats where i stage exit left.
