The drain just outside our kitchen which the kitchen sink and dishwasher drains into is blocked, Ive scouped all of the silt and other stuff out from the bottom of the drain and tried caustic soda and drain cleaning stuff, Ive also tried feeding the hose down there and jetting it. it now drains away but only very very slowly.
Any ideas how to unblock this?

See if you can hire a drain snake or see if you have a Drains R Us in your area who will put one down for about £ 40 :D

May be a blockage further down the drain - look for a manhole in the direction of flow and lift the cover to have a look. If the manhole if full of gunge and water - call a drain clearing firm but check the price first !

A simple and very professional solution sometimes is to fill it with water and use an old fashioned big cotton mop head and very rapidly plunge it up and down in the drain!

If that doesn't work maybe there is Dynowhatsit.

The blockage is usually just round the bend, so you have to get jiggy with a piece of bent copper pipe, joist hanger, or something else quite strong:

Or if its really tight then some jiggy jiggy ?

Is that with the drain or the copper pipe?
Whatever floats your boat....

It all depends on what has caused the blockage.

If its fat from indian cooking then lots of hot water might help or hot water followed by caustic soda leaft until it cools with a bit of agitation.

As caustic soda did not work before then acid might work but thats dangerous to handle.

A screwdriver poke with the hand down the drain might solve it.

Some times it works out cheeper to buy a set of drain rods and plungers than getting a firm in
