Very quick Deck frame joint question!!

hi,
just in the early stages of planning a deck and wondered if someone could tell me the best (and strongest) way to create a deck frame. Would you recommend a butt joint or a half lap joint to join the bearers?? Or is there another better method???
(im using 2x4" beams by the way)

half butt is fine... or.... plenty of timber and bolts... or any standard timber techniques....decking doesn't have any special requirements.... google it or look in books...

butt join and skew nail/screw if at ground level, or joist hangers if higher.
