Hi all,

We have a granny annex at the end of our garden and want to rent it to a lodger. It consists of 2 rooms. A main room with bed in and a small bathroom with shower and toilet.

I want to know if I can put a small electric hob in the main room.
Something like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300232832425

Are there any rules about having a cooking appliance in the same room as a bed?

Cheers,

Chris

Electric hob best option as no noxious gases expelled.

No probs in same room as bedroom as most bedsits have just ensure you have forced air extraction and double pole switch for the appliance.

Do the obvious and have a fire extinguisher ,fire blanket and smoke alarm fitted.

An electric safety cert is also a ggod safeguard too.

I take it you have no gas in the annex?
