Hoover dishwasher - programmes sticking

My Hoover dishwasher is less than a year old but Ive lost the warrantee. Anyway, after we bought it we had to put it in storage for 6 months while we stayed with relatives before moving into our house. Since plumbing it in, whatever programme we put it on just gets stuck. We put it on at night and when we get up its still on the same bit! Its not right at the beginning as it gets as far as filling up and emptying the soap dispenser but then gets stuck somewhere before draining and there is always dirty water at the bottom that hasnt drained and the dishes are still dirtyish ie have been partially washed but not completed if that makes any sense?!
Please help as I realy cannot afford to get a new one so soon!
