My shed is wired for electricity. Mains comes in via a 40A consumer board with 6A and 16A MCB's. I use the 6A for lighting and the 16A for sockets. (I keep a wall chart of all possible power usage and never exceed 10 amps in total). I currently have a fluorescent light (72 watts) hard wired (i.e. no switches) to the 6A MCB. I want to add a switch to this and another switch to run an external PIR (500 watts) both supplied from the 6A MCB. Can someone please supply a diagram as I am currently baffled as to how to do it? Thanks.

Look at the section marked "FAQ - look here first"

Go to second page and there you will find a diagram from Breezer. It describes adding a loft light but its exactly the same for what you want to do. You will need two switches, one for each light.

Thanks for that. The diagram has a note to use choc-boxes to connect N and Earth - I never considered this but assume it means puting the choc-box inside the switch. Thanks again.

I think He has found a hybrid here between joint box and choc block (electrical connection strip)! You would be right in using connection strip for the neutral and CPC
