My eletricity meter and JB is in a cupboard outside the front door. Is it legal to wire in a power socket from the JB so that I can plug in elctrical apparatus?

Electical apparatus such as Christmas lights, garden strimmer etc to save having to use a very long extension lead. Oh, and I should have mentioned that the cupboard also houses the gas meter but is fitted with a ventillation grill.

Since you obviously do not know the correct terminology for what you are asking about I would suggest posting a photo.
