I went on holiday in June 2007 and turn the system off at the gas tap just outside the boiler. Ever since then the boiler cuts out sometimes after 3 days and once after 3 months. The boiler has always been looked after with regular servicing and also, top ups with inhibitor so the system is very clean, as is the flue. It always lights up straight away and heats up the hot water and heating very quickly with no problems, it also recently had a new thermal coupling fitted.

Can you throw any light on the problem.

Might be muck in the pilot assembely which could have been forced in when gas turned back on or the overheat stat is dodgy and your new t/c it could have done with changing the o/heat sta as it links into the t/c make sure it hasnt been linked out

Many thanks for your reply, what you say makes good sense. I shall give the pilot light a good clean and see what appends. Many thanks again.

I doubt you will be able to clean it properly without removing the injector and blowing through with compressed air.
