Hi there, I am a light (well, anything technical, technically) novice, so go easy on me! :p

Right then, my dads light is in a bit of a state - to be honest it is a health hazard.

I was wondering if there are any lights on the market, for around the £20 mark, which are perfect for the loft which run on batteries. It would be nice if it ran on batteries because we have no sockets in the loft (does anyone?).

If that is a big no-no, then are there any portable lamps with a helluva long lead (5-10 meters) which could be used to carry around the loft?

Thanks very much, I was planning for this to be a Christmas present! I;m running out of time!

B & Q have some SOLAR powered lights with abuilt in battery for a shed
for 9.99 ( the solar bit recharges the battery, these have a detachable long lead, so you could put the solar bit out through the eaves, and provide light that way

they are quite bright as well
