Do it in daylight, switch the consumers unit OFF
The easiest way would be to connect a suitable size cable to the light (1mm t & e)

take this cable to the switch, cut the cable, but rejoin the blacks (neutrals) and connect the switch across the two reds.

Then connect the last end into the consumers unit, the red (live) going to your MCB (trip switch)

the neutral going to the main neutral bar inyour counsumers unit, and of course you are going to connect the earth wires in the light, together in the switch and the earth bar in the consumers unit

Red is live, black is netral, green is earth

RUN 1cable [1mm t+e]from consumwe unit to light and another cable from light to anew sw [to be used to switch ur light on +off].connect the black wire from consumer unit to black of light.connect the earths from both cables to the midle connector in ur light[make sure is also connected to the body of the flouren]. connect the black from the sw {put a red tape around it to signal switched live]to the brn of the light.connect the two reds in the fitting using an additional connector with no other wires connected to it. connect the wires at the sw [com and l2] and eath to the box of the sw.connect the wires to the cons unit black with other blacks and red to ur 6a circuit breaker and earth with other earths

NEVER run LIVE in a BLACK. reasoning for this is:- Even if it is marked clearly at either end with red tape you can't be sure someone will not cut the cable in the future and assume the black is a neutral.

It does not matter that this was thought safe enough to be standard practice for many years and will be found in houses all over the country for even longer, you must use either red + red + earth, or red + blue & yellow + earth for switch runs. If you must use red + black + earth, use two lengths and only use the reds and the earths. don't cut anything short to safe it. Connect all unused cores to earth and put g/y sleeving over them at both ends.
