Can't Afford To Upgrade System.

Need a bit of advice on this one if anyone could oblige.
Got a call from an old guy who's just had his boiler condemned by BG & for once it's justified. Anyway the system is fully pumped with a zone valve on the CH side & no control on DHW. Thing is the guy is strapped for cash & can't afford to renew the boiler & have the system upgraded. Is there a way round this so he can have his boiler fitted & still be able cover my backside as far as building reg's go?
Also would a Worcester 15Ri be OK fitted to this type of system? can't see any problems myself but you never know with these new boilers.

Why can't it just be wired up as an s plan?....perhaps the guy may qualify for the warm front scheme??

i was reading the post concerning pluming on to neighbours wall, seems opinion on that one is that nothing is probably going to end up getting done about this which i think is wrong, Personally i wouldn't do it, but i heard of guys getting customer to sign waiver, but cannot see how that works because your then putting it in black and white that you know it's wrong, could you not point them in direction of the rubbish lets bang a full heating system in a day warm front? ha that probably wont comply with building regs either!! went to an Iguarna job other day it was terrible, no bypass, no trv's, undersized gas pipe, flue sited in wrong place, had not inhibator in the system, no room stat! installation was utter pants!! but you got me thinking on this one mate

The pump & zone valve are under the floorboards just above the boiler & the feed & vent are on the circ's to the cylinder which is the other side of the house so I really just want to renew the boiler & not mess around with the system too much on the basis it's working now so leave it be.
as for warm front, the guy gets a small pension which is not enough to live on but just enough to balls him up for any benefits.

has he tried to apply tho, just i cut an ideal elan with leaking hex, house was worth in the region of 150 to 175 maybe a bit more which is good in our area and they still got one although personally i don't think they should have, 38 in lcd tv all the latest gadgets but they still got one on warm front

get him to get in touch with local council and enquire about warmzone grant (managed by Osbourne Energy) Different to warmfront (managed by Eaga/Iguana ex bluevan directors/managers with a grudge scheme).
Not all council's operate warmzone, Hounslow Council go round knocking on doors offering free upgrades, (not benefit based), Richmond Council next door don't operate scheme at all.
He can also try for a home improvement grant.

the Ri requires pump overrun. The old pump on return flow and expanshion on cylinder systems are not very satisfactory anyway.

I would put a system boiler in remove the pump cap off the cold feed and expansion.

As for part L stuff I wouldn't force it down his throat but obviously it can't be notified either explain this to him.

This might cause public outcry from my fellows but I've had it with being in the Nazzi for the government and corgi. If it's safe do it. He's the customer.
