i have got fitted wardrobes 20 yrs old but in good condition and want to paint them but they have beading in the middle with gold how should i prepare

Don't know how good it would be but there is a product called plastikote that I was considering using for something similar, it claims that it can be put straight on without primer. It comes as a spray paint or can be painted straight on. I've seen it in art shops, maybe if you do a google on 'Plastikote' you'll find some more info on it.
