Can you actually get into windows XP?
If you can Open Control Panel /Keyboard. Click on Hardware tab and select Troubleshoot.
This will lead you through a series of questions which may help solve the problem

is it USB or PS2 type connection ?
If USB , have you any other USB connections and are they working ok / have you tried other USB ports ?

if it's the ps2 type connection (round one) then assuming you have a usb port just try a usb keyboard instead.
strange that it's working in DOS though and not xp points more to software instead of hardware but sticking a usb keyboard in might dodge the problem pretty much cost free. (apart from the keyboard of course)
