myson apollo no hot water.

Hi chaps,
Myson Apollo Fanfare boiler trouble.
Radiaters heat up in all rooms and work fine but no hot water to taps.
All pipes are very hot either side of pump and going down to 3 way valve, pipes are still very hot either side of this valve and up to the storage tank.
Pipe on top of tank is cold.
The boiler will only fire up when the ch is switched on or ch and hw together are switched on.
If the hw only is selected the boiler wont fire up and does nothing.
Any ideas?

sounds like 3 port is stuck in ch.
can you remove head and check spindle moves?

The little lever below the valve is just 'flopping' from side to side but if I turn off the power supply and then turn it on again I can hear the motorized valve working.
If I move the lever by hand over then it will return to original position.
Why is the pipe hot leading to the tank if stuck in ch?? surely this pipe would be cold?

It does that if the valve is held in CH only.

Turning of the power releases the valve back to HW only.

If I move the lever by hand over then it will return to original position.

That's the spring in the valve returning it to HW only.

There are three possibilities:

1.The valve could have been stuck in CH only.
2. The valve actuator (box on the top) could be faulty.
3. A wiring fault elsewhere.

Read Honeywell Wiring Guide. It has detailed fault finding instructions for a Y-plan (3-way valve).
