Hi people

For the past few months the pilot light on my Alpha Ocean 240p combi boiler keeps going out after a few hours.

Would be grateful of any help!

Hot water and heating works ok when it's on.

The boiler seems to make a strange loud noise shortly before it goes out.

The fan has been replaced - no effect.

The thermocouple has been replaced - no effect.

It will relight ok whenever we relight.

Please does anyone have any suggestions for what to try as my gas safe/corgi man has no more ideas what to do as it always works fine when he is there, however he says the diverter valve is not working perfectly (but this is not making the pilot light go out is it?).

Many thanks

Bobby :)

We cannot give you gas related advice on an open forum!

The best thing is for your engineer to register on this site for the closed forum for gas engineers and to ask us there where we will be pleased to help him.

DONT open up the boiler yourself but can you hear the fan running slowly when the boiler is idle? Thats probably best listened for by interupting the mains supply for a few seconds and seeing if you can hear the fan running slowly.

The air movement it creates could probably be detected with a cande at inner part of the flue outlet on a still day if thats reachable.
