whats above the ceiling?
Is the damp due to ingress of water or condensation?
You can clad the ceilings, but solving the problem should be first on the list.

turn the shower head over, it's supposed to point downwards... :)

take away their bath toys so that they don't get too boistrous and splash water everywhere..

but seriously, a damp ceiling indicates a more serious problem..

leaking roof, cracked render, badly placed / vetilated fan

for a start where is the fan, how is it vented, and does it have a run on timer? do they switch it off?

the fan comes on when the light is on.
would it better to fit an extra fan?
i am changing the window , is it possible to put a vent in there (meaning in the glass)?

does the fan have a run on timer? if not swap it for one that does, or a humidistat.

you used to be able to put fans in windows but if it's DG then you won't be able to do it..

set it to overun for about 5-10 mins..

the problem is that they shower, the room gets steamy and as soon as they've towel'd off enough to go get dressed they leave and turn the light off, and the fan with it.. leaving the bathroom all steamy..
the ceiling is likely cold ( loft above it? not enough insulation? ) so it condenses there..
