Light switch wiring help

Hi - I am trying to change a light switch. The labelling of the old broken switch is L1 and L2, with a red wire to each. the new switch however has 3 terminals labelled 1 way, 2 way and Com. What goes to what?

Just ignore 2 way and connect to com & 1 way, assuming this switch is the only one controlling the fitting.

If you wire it wrong the only difference will be that the switch will be the wrong way i,e up when on, instead of down.

unless they wired it to L1 and L2, then it wouldnt work at all

IMO anyone who does electrical work without the proper tools and without a genuine understanding of what they are doing and how it all works deserves every bit of trouble they get into.
