That's womans work. Do you have one? :)

If it's a one off, hire a industrial vac from a hire shop.
Then buy a nice new dyson for the missus and attach some leg warmer to it ;)

put a bungie cord on the hoover and a hook by the door to every room.. she can then do some resistance training while pushing the hoover about..

dysons are good for regular dirt, but not for major dust, they don't have bags so too much dust and it just goes in the motor and messes it up..

When we renovated our house, and every room was full of dust, we popped down to Wickes and picked up a hoover for around 30 quid- it was designed to suck up light building debris, and did the trick. One word of caution, make sure you have plenty of filters, as after a while you end up blowing more dust out :)

I've used Aquavacs for years. If you are doing a lot of dusty work, you can get a paper dust sack that goes inside the drum and wraps round the cartridge filter. These saves the cartridge getting clogged, and also makes it easier and cleaner to empty as you can throw the whole bag away instead of happing to tip out a drum of dust. Plaster dust and loft dust are especially fine and cloggy

if you suck up bits of broken brick or nails, the machine will cope with it, but the paper bag may get punctured or torn.

when the cartridge filter (pleated type) is clogged, you can brush it clean

there are similar drum cleaners by various other makes, but get one with a hard plastic drum, not steel, as the steel ones will go rusty when you use them for sucking up water or mud.

We've got an old AquaVac, had it as a wedding present and we used to use it for general household cleaning but it's as noisy as an extremely noisy thing, so we've used a Dyson for a while now. Still use the Aquavac for vacuuming the car and clearing up after DIY, etc - it's practically bullet proof and just swallows up whatever you put in front of it. Had it over 20 years and it's still going strong.....
