Petroleum Jelly on carpet

Help!
My 3 year old son got into a jar of vaseline and now it\\\'s all over the carpet!

What\\\'s the best way to get it out w/o damaging my carpet?

Carpet shampoo or steam clean

You could try covering the affected spot with brown paper and then iron over it with the iron on its lowest setting. The brown paper should take up all the oil in the jelly. After that shampoo the area with stardrops or something similar. This works for wax as well!
