Is your hot water fed from a cylinder?
Kitchen cold should always be fed from the mains and is probably overpowering your hot supply. :(

But wouldn't it overpower the hot if they were both running at the same time.
I had the same problem and found that between the cylinder and the tap, there were 3 stop taps, which I repaced with gate valves and now all is fine.
Obviously the stoptaps were restricting the flow too much and for some reason, showed even more when a new tap was fitted.

Try isolating the cold supply to the mixer and see if the hot flow is improved and post back. :D
