can I place a basin trap away from the basin or is there a regulation that it must go directly on the bottom of the plug hole. the problem is I need to fit a bin underneath and it wont fit with the trap directly on so can I put an elbow on and position the trap at the rear of the cupboard out of the way. Will this 12" of pipework before the trap cause smells, germs and possibly even MRSA. Please help someone. THANX

Use a Hep V 0 waste valve...plumbers merchant will have them. No more risk than most kitchen sink wastes...they have pipework before the trap.Connect a plain pipe to the waste fitting with a "cap and liner" .all the fittings should be listed in merchants catalogue...and use Solvent weld waste : :)

Yep, hepv0:

is, I believe, used to screw on the waste.

Look at pics' properties for BES ref no.

I may be new to this game but I've never heard of a cap and liner!
