Hi

My central heating only heats the radiators when the Hot Water is also on.
If we hit advance or its timed to come on when the water is off, all we get is noise from the boiler and cold radiators.
However they heat up pretty quickly when the water is on at the same time. We have had a new (same model) progammer fitted, but its still not working. Im definately no expert, but this sounds electrical more than mechanichal... Any ideas?

Cheers
Aaron.

Could be a diverter valve problem, I suppose. Otherwise a wire disconnected perhaps.

PS suggest you delete the other near identical post

Thanks for your help...

As for the other post, I thought that was a better place for my query, so I was going to delete this thread... It turns out I can't delete either of them.

It just says:

oops.

Does sound like a diverter problem, what type of boiler system etc ?

Turn mid postion valve with latched lever and latch in positiotn.
With electric off remove motor from valve
turn valve spindle by hand after applying WD40.
Re assemble .Turn electric back on. Job done 10 minutes

oops.

you can alway go back and edit it, (remove everything) and say see post ....

its just that by posting in the wrong subject causes confusion

Yeah, Ive edited it... sorry about confusion.

I had a hunt around at the weekend, expecting to see a three way diverter valve however its only a two way honeywell. Im pretty sure the valve works though after some flicking between the auto and manual settings.
Its an open vented system i think, as there's two tanks in the loft.

Im wondering if maybe its a problem with the boiler.
I asked the missus to check out the pilot light to see if the main burner kicks in, apparently it does on HW but not on the call for CH (however the pump does). I probably should have checked this before hassling you guys.

Cheers
Aaron.
