My wife works in a local surgery and the C/H system failed to come on yesterday. Heating engineer came out today and told them the pump had gone and would need replacing.

Quoted them £612 + vat to fit new pump.

Is this a realistic price?

They obviously need the system back on asap - cold patients are not healthy after all  - but I suggested a post here before going ahead at that price.

Any advice welcomed.

Im sure its just a myson pump on them. If it is you can get a pump head for about £40. And it shouldnt take more than 30mins to fit.

Even in London we would only charge a fixed price diagnostic fee of £84 plus £60 for the pump!

Thanks for the replies - they have a local firm coming out on Monday to give a quote/diagnoses.

Now I have a 'ball park' figure for the pump, they are better placed to determine the resultant quote on Monday.

Thanks for the help - will report back next week.
