hi everyone.

i want to fix down the wooden floorboards (old style, not tongue and grooved) on the first floor of a house rather than hammer in traditional floorboard nails so as not to cause any damage to the newly plastered and painted ceilings...

what gauge and length of screw would be best? are twin-threaded better than single thread? is it possible to use the existing holes left from the pulled out nails to screw into?

Check the state of the floorboards every few weeks to see if lower or higher humidity levels has any shrinking or expanding effect on them. Screws don't allow for much movement of the boards, in extreme circumstance you could end up with split boards.
