Spur from a spur
Reply with quote Thanks

We're currently having our loft converted and the electrician wants to run the two double sockets we're having in the loft room plus the lighting, from an existing spur socket. Surely this isn't right? My knowledge of electrics ain't that great and I'm worried that when I talk to him he'll just try to fob me off. Any comments on this would be appreciated!

It's a non starter if the socket he's comming off is a socket thats a spur already, cant do spurs off of spurs.
But.......
He might be going to add the existing socket on to the ring then spurring off for the loft sockets via 13amp fcu then going to fuse down again for the lights.
Or the exissting circuit might be a radial circuit in which case no problem with what hes going to do, so long as the lights are fused down.
Or he might install a 13amp fcu in place of the existing socket then spur into loft conversion sockets then fuse down again for the lights.
Hope that makes some sense
