i have a potterton 80 combi boiler, the hot water supply is extremely hot and barely runs in the upper part of the house,it has been suggested that mains supply has not been turned on far enough, any ideas on this, if not is there any other cure.

More likely the water saving nonsence of a wax capsule device that this boiler has is at fault.

Close to the inlet valve there is a flow restrictor. Very rarely the rubber insert in this part swells up and restricts the flow.

As another even more rare occurance, the wax element which restricts flow until its hot fails.

There is also a gauze filter in the water inlet and this could get blocked by debris.

Thus you have three possible causes of reduced DHW flow.

If you cannot check these then you will need a very experienced boiler engineer as few know about these inner workings of this rather unusual model.
