Am considering running a power supply to my shed. I have been told that 2.5mm SWA will be ok for a socket and a light (thats all that will fit in it!!). Is this correct or am I better off going for 4mm or 6mm SWA??? |

Its about 30 metres in cable terms from the CU to the shed. Intention is to run a double socket and an interior light from it, with the possibility of adding outside light(s) and possibly a pond pump at a later date. |

Personally I would go for a 4.0mm² armoured.
For the difference in price, which is about £6 for your 30 meter run (based on 2.5mm² Vs 4.0mm² 2 core SWA)
This will allow you to have a 32A supply to the shed. This will be plenty for a twin socket and a light. It will also have spare capacity for future expansion (as you mentioned)
You might want to consider fitting one of these |
