Like lots of others, I have a howling boiler! Cant take it anymore after 3 years of living under its flight path! I'm told its kettling. Its a Gloworm Fuelsaver 35F or 55F and probably pretty old (not combi). Heats ok.

British Gas said it was the pump, got someone else to replace it, didn't change anything. Another said it was a build up or sludge and to use a chemical, another said replace the heat exchanger. So who is right and how to choose a plumber who knows what they're talking about???

They are all correct , the noise is the gas to water heat exchanger vibrateing because of POOR CIRCULATION ie slow ,pump blockedge. That noise is the same on most boilers
