Hello.

I have a Vokera 24e

Hot water and CH works.

Occassionally the hot water goes to lockout when it has been on for some time. Regularly the CH goes to lockout after being on for a while.

The Boiler always seems to fire up when you turn on the CH or a hot water tap, unless it is in a lockout condition.

I have not checked the main heat exchanger.
The Domestic heat exchanger is like new.
I have checked the pressure differential inlets.

Any ideas?

I was thinking of tracking down a new Pressure Differential Switch and new thermistor. Any good place for Vokera parts?

Cheers
Jason.

I take it you have a Vokera Maxin 24e.

If so, lockout can be caused by lots of things on that boiler.

Fan Venturi
Dirty main heat exchanger
Air Pressure switch/tubes
Gas Valve
Ignition control module
Boiler overheating.

It could be ANY of the above .
I would get someone who operates a no fix no fee service.

Correct it is a Maxin 24e.

Fan Venturi - checked and cleaned
Dirty main heat exchanger - checked and cleaned fins. Have not looked at internals
Air Pressure switch/tubes - Suspect. I wish to replace this
Gas Valve - I did reset this as per the manual, and it seems a bit better, but not completely right.
Ignition control module - Not checked
Boiler overheating - Temp seems ok when it cuts.

If it is likely to be a number of things, then I will try a two pronged attack. I might as well replace the simple things, and get someone who knows this unit to look at it.

Does anybody have a recommendation for who to try?

I had some monkey in last time who had no idea.

I am in North London. Who is a Vokera specialist in this area?

Cheers
Jason

If i was a betting man i would go for the ignition control module (scewed on to gas valve)

Thank you for your advice.

Any advice on where to get parts?

The online suppliers are using part numbers that do not tally with those in the Service manual.

take the ignition control unit apart first before you buy a new one.

take the board fully out of the black case and you may see some scorching around one of the resistors. check the solder around the connections to this resistor on the back of the board....its normally here that the board has a dry joint causing intermittant or permanent ignition probs......sometimes you can resolder it back on to the board other times its too badly scorched to repair

also check the fan impellor blades are clean...this can cause the fan to produce insufficient air pressure to the aps tubes, dust needs to be removed with a screwdriver if its bad enough

Hello again.

I pulled the Ignition board today. There are one resistor dry jointed on both ends.

I re-soldered them.

We shall see if that catches the fault.

Thank you for the advice!

£1 for kicking it
£99 for knowing where it kick it :)

Cheers
Jason
